Hello fellow Laser Pointer Vendor,

My name's Jay, and I've been selling lasers on eBay and through magazines for the past 9 months. One thing I realized shortly after I started was the high rate of problems I was having with pointers from most wholesalers. I was getting my pointers cheap, but at the coast of dead batteries, dead pointers, and widely varying quality. To avoid getting hit with expensive returns, I developed a testing methodology that has reduced my return rate considerably.

My testing consists of both visual and electronic evaluation of every pointer and battery that I sell. With this testing, I now have more happy customers, far fewer returns, and make a better profit. Check out my own retail procedures here.

What I'm offering is the services of my company to pre-test your laser pointers so you can reduce your customer problems. Sure, if one out of 10 customers gets a dead pointer, they can return it, but wouldn't you like to see it go down to 1 out of 50 or 100???

Our service consists of the following tests and services.

• We remove each laser from it's packaging and visually inspect it for blown batteries, cracks, or other cosmetic problems.
• Each laser is checked to see if it lights on our test stand. If it lights, the beam is measured for intensity. Depending on your specifications, we can sort into Pass, marginal and fail brightness.
• Each laser is checked to see that the spring and insulator film are positioned correctly. These are prime problem points. An insulator that's slipped can cause batteries to short out, lose life, expand, or even explode. if a spring is offset, it can also short a battery, causing the laser to not light. If we find either out of position, we restore them to working position.
•  We check the fit of the battery cover. This is another problem area, usually that they're too loose to hold batteries, or cross threaded causing difficulty for customers when they change batteries. If rough fitting covers are not too far gone, we will work them to get them to fit smoother. If they are too far gone, we'll separate them out.
• We'll check each battery. We re-position the batteries that have bounced around in the case and then check them with a digital meter. Again, based on your specifications, we can replace batteries that don't measure up (you supply batteries, or you can buy them from us).
• We put the laser pointer back into the case and add a piece of bubble wrap over the batteries to keep them from bouncing around. We then put the case back in the original packaging.
• Once completed, we ship the tested and sorted pointers back to you for sale.

Since testing is a labor intensive operation, we reserve the right to limit the number of pointers tested per day. However, our prices are reasonable, $1.00 per pointer inspected, with a minimum of 50 pointers at a time. Price does not include shipping to and from our location. On a lot of 100, your cost would be approximately $130 for testing and rount trip shipping. That's $1.30 each for fewer headaches!!!
